ARTIST STATEMENT

I have had an affinity for freckles since I was a young boy. I believe that freckles represent the uniqueness of each person who is blessed with them. Unfortunately, society has attached a negative stigma to freckles deeming them “ugly” or “unattractive”. The truth is that freckles are as beautiful and unique as the people who wear them.

This series is meant not only to destroy the negative stigma attached to freckles but to also create skin cancer awareness. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart and I try to find ways to call attention to it daily. This series will provide me with a larger audience to spread my message through the art of photography.

So in conclusion, my goal is to use my camera to show the world the beauty I see when I look at a girl with freckles and hope that they will see it too.
